– F3 title chase comes down to the wire at “The Temple of Speed”
– Italy a second home: Beganovic soaking in tifosi passion
The FIA Formula 3 Championship comes down to the wire this weekend at the historic circuit of Monza, with Dino Beganovic remaining in title contention as the season draws to a close.
As the F3 campaign resumes following a well-earned summer break, it does so with the 2024 championship yet to be decided, and with seven drivers still mathematically in the hunt.
One of them is Beganovic, who enters the Monza finale holding fifth in the standings after winning two races so far this year. He sits 29 points off the lead with 39 points still potentially up for grabs.
Also a former race winner at Italy’s famed “Temple of Speed” – triumphing during his title-winning 2022 Formula Regional European Championship campaign – the Swede is taking an all-out approach to the fastest venue on the schedule.
“I’m really, really excited to be back racing again after the summer break,” says Dino Beganovic. “It was a well-needed time off for everyone, but now we’re fully recharged and focussed on ending this season on a high. It’s quite a long shot as far as the title is concerned, but you never know at Monza. Anything can still happen and I’ve got nothing to lose. I’ll be fighting all the way to the end.”
A long-time member of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, Beganovic is heading into a particularly special weekend at the Italian Grand Prix – the home race for the Prancing Horse. Taking in the support of the passionate “tifosi” fans, Beganovic – who also competes for Italian outfit PREMA Racing – calls the tricolore nation his second home.
“I live in Maranello only a couple of hours away from Monza, so this is such a special weekend for me and everyone in my closest circle,” Dino Beganovic concludes. “It’s going to be a fantastic event for everyone watching, I’m sure. I’m feeling super relaxed and just lucky to be a part of this family. Hopefully I can close out the year in the best possible way.”
The FIA Formula 3 Championship finale at Monza begins with practice on Friday morning. Qualifying takes place later the same day – this time featuring a Monaco-style format of two groups to ease traffic.
The sprint race is scheduled for Saturday morning, while the season-ending feature race runs as a precursor to the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix on Sunday.
