Dino Beganovic returns to racing this weekend as the FIA Formula 2 Championship springs back to life at Monza following the summer break.
Home of the tradition-steeped Italian Grand Prix, Monza is affectionally known as the Temple of Speed, boosting extensive straights and some of the highest top speeds seen all year.
Another moniker is “La Pista Magica” – self-explanatory.
Beganovic arrives with positive momentum from before the six-week break, the DAMS Lucas Oil driver scoring a pair of podiums in the two most recent events at Spa and Budapest.
“I’m really excited to get back to racing this weekend,” says Dino Beganovic. “It’s been a long time off, but I can’t think of a better place for the season to restart than at Monza. The atmosphere is uniquely special and we’re coming off some improved performances before the break. I’m feeling all recharged and ready for battle.”
Although Swedish by nationality, Beganovic views Monza as a de facto home event, having represented the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy throughout his single-seater career. He continues to live in the Italian town of Maranello and drove a 2025 Ferrari Formula 1 car as recently as last week in a test at Mugello.
“Racing at Monza is special for everyone, with over a hundred years of history, but competing there in front of all the tifosi as a Ferrari junior driver is next level,” Beganovic concludes. “I’ve raced there in every category and every year of my single-seater career, so it’s a place I know very well. It will be a busy but very special weekend.”
Formula 2 hits the track on Friday for practice and qualifying. Saturday will see the Sprint Race take place, with the weekend then concluding on Sunday with the Feature Race in the hours leading up to the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
