- Monaco first up in hectic F2 summer stretch
- Swede chasing second career win in the principality
Dino Beganovic returns to action in the FIA Formula 2 Championship this weekend on the iconic streets of Monaco as the F1 feeder series launches into a hectic summer of racing.
Running back-to-back with Barcelona next weekend, and with four further events following suit in June/July, Monaco marks the start of a busy European leg of the F2 season.
For Beganovic, the principality holds fond memories, with the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy member taking a marquee win on the historic street circuit en route to the Formula Regional European Championship title in 2022.
The Swede also finished second in the Monaco Feature Race in Formula 3 back in 2023, and set the fastest lap of last year’s Feature Race when visiting for the first time in Formula 2.

Now, Beganovic is determined to go fighting for another victory on the Mediterranean shoreline, looking to bounce back from a disappointing retirement in Montreal last time out when running second.
“It’s so great to be back in Monaco this weekend,” says Dino Beganovic. “It’s a unique race on the calendar with so much history. It’s a standout event, especially qualifying day with so much on the line on that one lap. We all know qualifying can make or break your weekend in Monaco, so that’s going to be our main focus, especially having struggled a bit there this year.
“We know our race pace is very competitive, so if we can get through qualifying and line up towards the front, I will be very confident. I can’t wait to hit the track and experience that thrill that only driving in Monaco can provide.”
As per Monaco tradition, running in the principality begins a day earlier than at other events, with F2 staging its sole practice session of the weekend on Thursday.
Qualifying will take place on Friday, once again utilising the split-field format regularly at play in Monaco to ease traffic concerns within the tight confines of the narrow circuit.
The field will run in two groups, with the fastest outright time seizing pole position for Sunday’s Feature Race. All drivers running in that same group will then line up on the odd-numbered side of the grid (1, 3, 5, 7 etc) while the second-fastest group will occupy the even-numbered side (2, 4, 6, 8 etc).
The Sprint Race takes place on Saturday, with the main Feature Race retaining its usual Sunday slot – acting as a prestigious precursor to the blue-riband Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
