- Formula 2 field takes prime supporting slot at legendary Monaco Grand Prix
- Beganovic looking to add to previous success in the principality
Dino Beganovic heads to the famous streets of Monaco this weekend for the blue-riband event of the FIA Formula 2 Championship season, arriving in a state of determination after a strong performance last time out in Imola.
Storming to a first-career F2 pole and backing it up with a feature race podium, the events of Imola just a matter of days ago have blown fresh confidence into Beganovic’s sails.
It adds further impetus going into the most prestigious round of the F2 season, with Beganovic returning this week to the ultra-demanding streets of Monte Carlo – where he is already a previous race winner.
Clinching victory in the principality en route to the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship title, Beganovic also scored a podium in Monaco in F3 in 2023, with only an untimely red flag in qualifying denying him a similar outcome last year.
Arriving with fond memories and strong current momentum, Beganovic is now keen to tackle the narrow Mediterranean street course for the first time in Formula 2 machinery.
“Monaco is such a special event and I am really looking forward to returning there this year, for the first time in Formula 2,” says Dino Beganovic. “It will be the fastest car I have ever driven there, which is exciting!
“I head into this weekend in a confident frame of mind. I have a strong history in Monaco, I massively enjoy driving those streets, and we just had our best round of the season so far in Imola. It all adds up to a lot of positives right now, and we will try our best to continue on that path.”
Formula 2 running traditionally begins a day earlier in Monaco than at other events, with the sole practice session of the meeting taking place on Thursday. Qualifying – paramount around the narrow street track – takes centre stage on Friday, featuring a unique split group format to alleviate traffic within the tight confines of the city-state.
As per the usual F2 weekend schedule, the sprint race is scheduled for Saturday while the main feature race will precede the world-renowned Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix on Sunday.
