– PREMA driver cautiously optimistic heading into penultimate round of the season
– F3 field prepares for Belgian battles at legendary track
Dino Beganovic is going on the attack this weekend as he looks to further bridge the gap in the FIA Formula 3 Championship standings in the penultimate round of the season at Spa-Francorchamps.
A previous winner at Spa, triumphing from pole during his title-winning Formula Regional campaign in 2022, Beganovic returns to the legendary Belgian track this weekend for the final races ahead of F3’s summer break.
After making inroads in the title chase last weekend in Budapest with his third podium of the season, the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy racer is mixing caution with optimism ahead of the final two rounds of 2024.
“The penultimate round of the year, and the final race before the summer break,” says Dino Beganovic. “We got a podium last weekend and made up some ground, but it’s no secret that we’ve been struggling with consistent pace. We are looking at all the data to see what we can do for Spa and this decisive part of the season. We have some changes planned and we’ll see how that works out.”
Located in the hills of Belgium’s Ardennes Forest, Spa is the longest circuit on the calendar at just over seven kilometres, featuring iconic high-speed corners such as Eau Rouge, Pouhon and Blanchimont.
“I love Spa, and all these historic circuits,” Dino Beganovic concludes. “We know the weather is usually a big factor there, and you really must be prepared for anything the conditions may throw at you. Going out with a strong result before the summer break would mean a lot to me, and to the team. I will give it absolutely everything.”
With two rounds and four races remaining this season, Beganovic currently sits sixth in the F3 standings, 29 points adrift of the lead. 78 points remain up for grabs this season, which concludes at Monza on September 1.
The field takes to the track in Belgium on Friday morning for free practice, followed by qualifying later the same day. The sprint race takes place on Saturday and the feature race on Sunday.
