- Swedish driver set for Free Practice 1 appearance at the Austrian Grand Prix
- Busy weekend coming up as Beganovic dovetails F1 and F2 programmes
Dino Beganovic will run for Scuderia Ferrari HP in the opening Formula 1 free practice session at this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg.
Following on from his first official outing with the legendary Italian team earlier this year in Bahrain, Beganovic – a product of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy – is set for the second Free Practice 1 appearance of his career this Friday, June 27.
21-year-old Beganovic slots into the Ferrari SF-25 normally driven by Charles Leclerc for the one-hour session, running alongside Lewis Hamilton as he looks to build on the initial learnings from Sakhir.
“I’m extremely excited to get my second FP1 outing with Scuderia Ferrari HP this weekend in Austria,” says Dino Beganovic. “Bahrain was an amazing moment and I’m grateful to be given another opportunity this early in the season as well. Spielberg is the ideal place for it to happen, too. It’s a track I know very well, it has a wide mix of corners, and it will allow me to keep learning the car while assisting the team in their race weekend preparations.”
Beganovic will be busy throughout the weekend, with Austria also marking the resumption of the FIA Formula 2 Championship following a one-month break. Set against the backdrop of the iconic Styrian mountains, the Spielberg circuit will greet the F2 field for its halfway mark of the 2025 season.
Beganovic has scored two podiums and one pole position so far in his rookie F2 campaign, and graced the rostrum in Spielberg in the Formula 3 feature race last year.
“I can’t wait to be back on track in F2 this weekend,” says Dino Beganovic. “We’ve had a few ups and downs this year, but the break has given us a real window to sit down and really look at all the data. We’ve been hard at work on the sim trying to get the car a little bit more to my liking. I think we’ve done a good job there, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do out on track this weekend.”
With his added F1 commitments, Beganovic will have a particularly busy time on Friday, first driving in the F2 practice session before moving across to F1 for FP1, and then swiftly back to his Hitech F2 racer for qualifying.
The weekend then continues with the F2 sprint race on Saturday and the feature race on Sunday.
