– Ferrari Driver Academy youngster heads to Italy’s famed Temple of Speed
– Hopes running high after breakthrough weekend in Mugello
Dino Beganovic is hoping to pick up where he left off as the Formula Regional European Championship completes its season-ending Italian Tour this weekend at Monza, building on the promise of a breakthrough podium three weeks ago in Mugello.
As the highly competitive, 36-car grid prepares for its last round of the 2021 campaign, Beganovic will have all the reasons to aim high around the ultra-fast “La Pista Magica” in Monza’s former royal park.
The Swede carries with him the momentum of a second-place finish at Mugello, and arrives at treasured land for his Italian outfit Prema Powerteam as well as the Ferrari Driver Academy that he represents.
“Time for the finale, and I can’t wait,” says Dino Beganovic. “Monza is such a special track and there is quite a high probability for red flags with everything on the line in qualifying, so that could be an interesting one this weekend. Also, the slipstreaming effect along the straights is huge, so timing that is critical. We had such a strong weekend last time out in Mugello, both in terms of my personal performance and that of the team, so we’re really motivated to pick up on that.”
Adding further incentive, Beganovic will enjoy the company of a large contingent of personal supporters on site in Italy this weekend, augmenting the 17-year-old’s drive to round out the season in style.
“I’m so pleased that my partners and sponsors wanted to come out for the weekend, and I really hope they will enjoy it,” Beganovic concludes. “It will be fantastic to wrap up the season in front of them!”
Pre-event testing takes place on Thursday, with the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship finale then formally kicking off on Friday with free practice. Saturday and Sunday follow the regular schedule with a qualifying session and race apiece on both days.
Dino Beganovic enters the weekend holding fourth in the rookie standings, just eight points off the top three.
