– Swede on the charge in Formula Regional Asian Championship round two
– Ferrari Driver Academy youngster bags top five triple
Dino Beganovic bounced back from the disappointment of Abu Dhabi to score his first podium of the season in round two of the Formula Regional Asian Championship at the Dubai Autodrome.
Held back by engine issues in the opening races of the Middle East-based campaign at Yas Marina last week, Beganovic was back at the front a few days later as the 26-car field regrouped in the nearby emirate of Dubai.
After taking fifth in the first race of the triple-header meeting, the Swedish 18-year-old then came through from sixth on the partially reversed grid in Race 2 to finish on the podium in second place, delivering a proud 1-2 result for the Mumbai Falcons squad just fractions behind team-mate and fellow Ferrari Driver Academy member Arthur Leclerc.
Beganovic then wrapped up the weekend with another P5 finish in the concluding Race 3, making him one of the top points scorers of the event. The Swede now sits seventh in the overall standings.
“A strong weekend for us, and it’s nice to bounce back after the issues we had in Abu Dhabi,” says Dino Beganovic. “Three top five finishes, and my first podium of the year, obviously feels nice. It’s good, too, to deliver a 1-2 for FDA and the team. They have worked hard in the last week and we’re clearly making progress. There is still some work to be done in fine-tuning the car, but we’re getting there, and I’m feeling really confident for the remaining races.”
The Formula Regional Asian Championship resumes next weekend (4-6 February), staying put at Dubai Autodrome for three fresh races at the venue.
