Dino Beganovic continued to showcase front-running pace in the Italian Formula 4 Championship in round three of the season at Spielberg, bagging another top five finish.
The Ferrari Driver Academy Swede, however, felt he was unable to fully exploit his potential at the Austrian F1 track, where he underlined his speed with fastest lap in Race 2 of the triple-header meeting.
Beganovic was hit from behind in the congestion of the opening lap in Race 1, sustaining damage to his Prema Powerteam car and tumbling down to 11th.
Race 2 saw the single-seater rookie battle it out in the leading pack, setting the fastest lap of the encounter, but eventually finish fifth.
Setting off from third in the final race of the weekend, Beganovic had his eyes fixed on the podium to conclude the meeting, but he ultimately had to make do with eighth after losing ground in some on-the-edge on-track tussles.
Beganovic recorded the third-fastest lap of Race 3, again signalling what could have been.
“We’ve had the pace to run up front again this weekend, as we saw with fastest lap in Race 2 and our top three qualifying performance,” says Dino Beganovic. “Having said that, I am not satisfied with my performance in the races. I still have a lot to learn on the opening laps and in racing cars around me, but I know that will come with time. It was good to complete the three races this weekend and pick up some good points, but I’ll be aiming higher next time out.”
Beganovic is back on track in just a week’s time, when he is due to make his second guest appearance in the German F4 championship at Hockenheim.
