- Hitech racer targets fresh start to second half of F2 season on team’s home soil
- Build-up to British event includes confirmation of Formula E Rookie Test outing
Dino Beganovic will be looking to set his record straight around the fabled Silverstone Grand Prix circuit this weekend as the second half of the FIA Formula 2 Championship begins at the legendary British venue.
A mixed first half to the season currently has Beganovic sitting tenth in the standings halfway through his rookie F2 campaign, but with two podiums and a pole position nonetheless to his tally, the Swede has kept himself in contention and left last week’s round in Austria on a points-scoring note following a positive feature race.
As racing resumes at Silverstone just days later, Beganovic is bidding for a strong weekend at his Hitech team’s home event, the outfit based just outside the circuit gates.
Beganovic has raced at Silverstone on two previous occasions, both in Formula 3. Both previous visits, however, were blighted by qualifying mishaps; an engine failure in 2023 followed by a faulty tyre choice in changeable weather conditions last year.
Now, the Swede is looking to finally show his true colours around the much-loved track.
“Silverstone is a circuit I really like, but my track record doesn’t quite agree!” says Dino Beganovic. “I’ve been very unfortunate there but that’s all in the past and I can’t wait to take on this particular track in the F2 car. It is well suited to both my driving style and to the F2 car with a lot of long, sweeping, fast corners.
“It’s also the team’s home event, so of course it would mean a lot for everyone to succeed this weekend. We’re working flat out to get on top of our recent issues and this week alone, I’ve spent two days on the sim looking to unlock more performance. The weather can be unpredictable at Silverstone, and likely will be, so that’s another factor to keep in mind.”
Joins up-coming Formula E Rookie Test

Meanwhile, it is announced today that Beganovic will join Mahindra Racing for the up-coming ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Rookie Test in Berlin, Germany, on July 14.
Beganovic will complete a full day’s running alongside fellow F2 driver Kush Maini in the team’s all-electric Mahindra M11Electro around Berlin’s Tempelhof circuit, in what will be his first outing in a Formula E car.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to drive for Mahindra Racing at the Berlin Rookie Test, and to try a Formula E car for the first time,” says Beganovic. “It’s a great opportunity to get some relevant experience of electric drivetrains and also contribute to the team’s development. I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve seen so far; it’s obvious why this is one of the front-running teams in the championship.”
This weekend’s Silverstone F2 event begins on Friday with practice and qualifying. The sprint race takes place on Saturday, with the feature race rounding out proceedings on Sunday morning before the F1 British Grand Prix.
