Dino Beganovic scored another pair of podiums in the Formula 3 Asian Championship across an intense double-round meeting spanning four days at Yas Marina Circuit, completing his spell in the competitive winter series.
Backing up his podium double from the opening round in Dubai last weekend, Beganovic continued to challenge up front in rounds two and three at Abu Dhabi’s Grand Prix track, sealing two fresh rostrum finishes (P3) from six races in star-studded rivalry that included several FIA Formula 2 regulars.
“It’s been another good weekend, my first time at Yas Marina and a lot of valuable mileage completed,” says Dino Beganovic. “It’s been pretty hectic with six races in four days, adding to those in Dubai last weekend. I’m pleased to bring home four podiums from my debut F3 experience here in the Asian championship.”
The Ferrari Driver Academy junior also delivered a P4 result to add to his podiums, but bookended his Abu Dhabi adventures with two retirements: the first due to technical gremlins, and the last due to a first-lap clash in which the steering wheel snapped and hurt his hand.
Although in initial pain, Beganovic thankfully escaped serious injury and will now head back to Europe having successfully completed his Middle Eastern winter rehearsal.
“The hand is a bit sore, but nothing broken and it will be fine,” Dino Beganovic concludes. “I want to thank my team, Abu Dhabi Racing by PREMA, for looking after me so well across these two weeks here in the Emirates and for giving me the opportunity to do these important races. It will be a big help having raced at this level once the season begins over in Europe.”
While the F3 Asian Championship rages on next week, Dino Beganovic has now completed his spell in the series and will next be back on track in pre-season testing for his main 2021 programme in the Formula Regional European Championship.
