– Swede ready to race at legendary British Grand Prix track for the first time
– FIA Formula 3 resumes just days after Spielberg battles
Dino Beganovic is set to go racing on the fabled Silverstone circuit for the first time of his career this weekend as the FIA Formula 3 Championship regroups in Britain.
Just days after battling it out in the Styrian hills of Spielberg, the Formula 1 fraternity and its support series move into race mode once again as attention shifts to one of the most renowned venues in the world of motorsport.
The scene of some of the sport’s most historic moments, including staging the very first Formula 1 world championship race in 1950, Silverstone is an integral part of the racing calendar. Yet for Dino Beganovic, who has spent his single-seater career to date competing mainly in continental Europe, this weekend’s visit will mark his first-ever races at the legendary track.
“I have never raced at Silverstone before, and my only experience of it is a single day of testing in a smaller car last year,” says Dino Beganovic. “That, however, was truly magic. I loved the circuit from the first lap. It’s a high-speed track with some amazing corners, and I really can’t wait to try it out in the Formula 3 car. It is a bit of an unknown for me, but we take a lot of positives into this weekend and hopefully it’s a track that will suit us well.”
Beganovic is currently tied for second in the FIA F3 standings after another strong performance last weekend in Austria, where he lined up second for the feature race and led in the early stages, underpinning his pace with fastest lap.
“I feel like I’m definitely edging close to that first win, and that’s going to be an aim from now on,” the Ferrari Driver Academy member concludes. “Let’s see what we can do this weekend.”
Running at Silverstone begins on Friday with practice and qualifying, followed – as usual – by the sprint race on Saturday and the feature race on Sunday.
