- Formula 2 field regroups at twisty Hungaroring
- Hitech racer keen to end on a high before in-coming break
Dino Beganovic travels to Hungary this weekend for the second leg of a Formula 2 double-header that brings down the curtain on a busy summer stint.
Forming part of back-to-back events with last weekend’s round in Belgium, the visit to Budapest’s Hungaroring will see the final pair of races before a five-week break ensues.
Beganovic scored a Sprint Race podium in Budapest last year in Formula 3, and will be hoping for a similar result this time around as he returns to the twisty, recently refurbished track in Formula 2.
“I really enjoy the Hungaroring,” says Dino Beganovic. “It’s a very different track compared to Spa last weekend. For Budapest, we’re running high downforce levels and the corners just keep leading into each other. There’s basically just one straight and it’s difficult to overtake, which makes qualifying extra important. That will be our main focus this weekend, ensuring we’re in the mix for both races.”
With the weather forecast looking more stable than last weekend at Spa, and temperatures of up to 30 degrees expected, Beganovic views Budapest as an opportunity to gain valuable insights going into the last part of the season.
“We’ve had good pace in the wet in recent times, but we’re still chasing some performance in dry conditions,” Dino Beganovic concludes. “Budapest should give us some straightforward dry running to help evaluate our latest findings and ideas. I’m looking forward to it; we’re never giving up. Getting a good result this weekend would be a useful boost going into the summer break.”
Formula 2 takes to the track on Friday for practice and that all-important qualifying session, which will set the grid for both races of the weekend. The top ten in qualifying are reversed on the grid for Saturday’s Sprint Race, while the outright qualifying order determines the line-up for Sunday’s Feature Race.
