– Penultimate round of the season takes place at fabled Spa-Francorchamps
– Ferrari Driver Academy youngster looking to build on Budapest podium
The FIA Formula 3 Championship continues at full speed this weekend with the penultimate round of the season at Spa-Francorchamps, as Dino Beganovic looks to feature once again at the sharp end of the field.
Having scored four feature race podiums so far in his rookie F3 campaign – including a second-place finish at the Hungaroring last Sunday – Beganovic arrives in the Belgian Ardennes eager to get back on track.
A previous race winner at Spa-Francorchamps, having romped to victory from pole position last year in the Formula Regional European Championship, the Ferrari Driver Academy youngster is looking forward to returning to the legendary 7.004 km circuit.
“Spa is an amazing track, very fast and flowing, and has all types of corners,” says Dino Beganovic. “It’s a great challenge, and I think especially so this year in Formula 3 with the medium tyres we’ll be running again this weekend. We used them last week in Budapest too, and they proved very sensitive with a lot of degradation. Now coming to a much faster track, taking care of those tyres is going to be key this weekend.”
With the intensity of the summer having taken F3 from Austria to Britain, and then from Hungary to Belgium, the up-coming event at Spa marks the end of a busy July schedule – with the championship, rather incredibly, now entering the penultimate round of the season.
Following the visit to Spa and a well-earned August summer break, only the season-ending finale at Monza remains in early September.
“This is the final push this month, and I’m excited for it,” Dino Beganovic concludes. “Taking a good result into the summer break would be really nice. Spa always produces great racing and I’m sure there will be elbows out this weekend. I’m ready for the fight!”
FIA Formula 3 takes to the track on Friday for practice and qualifying. As always, the sprint race is run on Saturday, and the feature race on Sunday morning before the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix.
Beganovic enters the weekend tied for fourth in the standings.
