- Swede excited for racing to resume after ten-week break
- 2025 F2 campaign draws to a close with Middle Eastern double-header
Dino Beganovic is looking to pick up where he left off as the FIA Formula 2 Championship finally resumes this weekend following an extensive in-season break.
Beganovic enjoyed his best event to date in Formula 2 last time out in Baku, clinching his maiden victory in the F1 feeder series with a commanding Sprint Race drive and pocketing a further podium to boot in the Feature Race.
With that effort dating back to late September, the Swedish Hitech driver is keen for racing to now resume some ten weeks on, as the Formula 2 grid readies itself for back-to-back events in the Middle East to round out the season in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back on track,” says Dino Beganovic. “While it’s been a long break since that great weekend in Baku, I do feel the momentum is still there, and we’ll be aiming to draw on that in these final two rounds of the season.”
First up in the season-ending double-header is a visit to Qatar’s Lusail International Circuit, the site of Beganovic’s memorable Formula 2 debut last year. Despite having to sit out practice, the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy member trumped the odds to qualify an imposing P4 under the desert floodlights, before going on to finish fifth in the Feature Race.
Lusail, consequently, marks both a welcome return and the closing of the circle for Beganovic’s first 12 months as a Formula 2 driver.
“I had a very strong weekend in Qatar last year,” Dino Beganovic concludes. “The same goes for Abu Dhabi a week later where I then picked up my first F2 podium. These will be the first tracks I return to with previous F2 experience, and hopefully I can use that knowledge to good effect. I’m determined to pick up where we left off in Baku; I really want to end this season on a high.”
Qatar marks the 13th round in this year’s 14-round FIA Formula 2 Championship. Running begins on Friday with practice in the middle of the day and qualifying then playing out on a floodlit track in the evening.
Saturday’s Sprint Race also takes place after sunset, while Sunday’s Feature Race is slated to run in daytime conditions.
