– Swedish rookie maintains early season form in Barcelona
– Ferrari Driver Academy youngster up to third in overall standings
Dino Beganovic upheld his early form in his rookie FIA Formula 3 Championship campaign by scoring his third feature race podium from four attempts with another strong performance in Barcelona.
Backing up previous visits to the podium in Bahrain and Monaco, Beganovic powered to the rostrum once again on Sunday with a solid drive to P3 in the main race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The result remedied previous disappointment for the Ferrari Driver Academy youngster in Saturday’s sprint race, where a puncture – picked up when overtaking a rival driver (who was later penalised for the incident) – forced him to retire.
”I’m very happy with this podium today, especially after the bad luck we suffered yesterday in the sprint race,” says Dino Beganovic. “This is a nice reward for the whole team, backing up our P2 finish in Monaco. It’s great to see our performance carrying over from the street track in Monaco to a completely different circuit here in Barcelona. Having three feature race podiums really shows our consistency, and it’s nice to look back on that heading into the up-coming break.”
With a 75 % podium strike rate in feature races staged so far, Beganovic now moves up to third in the overall FIA F3 Championship standings. The Formula 1 support series now takes a one-month summer break, returning to action at the Austrian Grand Prix on July 1-2.
