– Ferrari Driver Academy youngster pays maiden visit to F1 venue Hungaroring
– Swede heads Formula Regional European Championship standings at half time
Formula Regional European Championship leader Dino Beganovic will head to Hungary’s famed Hungaroring this weekend as the second half of the season begins, getting his first taste of the twisty Grand Prix track outside Budapest.
While many of his rivals will have raced at the 4.381 km F1 circuit in lower categories, Beganovic pays his first-ever visit to the venue, which last staged a Formula Regional round back in 2019.
“Hungaroring is a brand new track for me, so I’m really excited to go there and see what it’s all about,” says Dino Beganovic. “The team also hasn’t been there in Formula Regional since 2019, so it’s a bit of an unknown to all of us, but I’ve been working in the sim and with my engineer to get my head around it.
“It may be a new track for me, but we’re leading the championship and have been strong at every type of circuit this year, including Monaco which is the closest we’ll get in terms of set-up to Hungaroring. It’s going to be really fun and I can’t wait to try it out!”
With five of ten championship rounds completed, Beganovic currently leads the Formula Regional standings by 36 points moving into the second half of the campaign.
Testing begins in Budapest on Thursday, followed by official free practice on Friday. Two qualifying sessions and two races are then set to be played out across Saturday and Sunday as per the usual event format.
