- Belgium up next for Round 9 of the FIA Formula 2 Championship
- Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy racer returns to winning grounds
Dino Beganovic is chasing a third career victory around the fabled Spa-Francorchamps this weekend as the FIA Formula 2 Championship resumes in the Belgian Ardennes.
Already a two-time winner at the iconic 7.004 km circuit, Beganovic has clinched milestone wins at Spa in both the Formula Regional European Championship (2022) and FIA Formula 3 (2024).
The Swede thus returns to the winding, high speed track with fond memories this weekend, as he prepares to take on the daunting challenges of Eau Rouge, Pouhon and Blanchimont for the first time in F2 machinery for round nine of the season.
“Good to be back on track after a small break,” says Dino Beganovic. “I have a lot of great memories at Spa, including last year winning the F3 sprint race. It’s simply one of the best circuits in the world. It throws up a bit of everything, not least in terms of the weather which is looking like it could be quite unstable again this weekend. Spa is a real pleasure to drive, a long lap through the forest, and I can’t wait to take it on in F2.”
Beganovic arrives fresh from a strong result last time out at Silverstone, which saw the Hitech racer finish fourth in a rain-affected Feature Race.
“We had a good result at Silverstone, so I’m looking forward to building on that this weekend,” Beganovic concludes. “Now, we want to take that next step in the same direction and fight it out up front in both races.”
The Formula 2 event in Belgium gets underway with practice and qualifying on Friday. The Sprint Race takes place on Saturday, with the Feature Race once again wrapping up proceedings ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday.
