– Formula Regional championship leader heads to Circuit Paul Ricard
– No rest for FDA-backed Swede in back-to-back Mediterranean events
Dino Beganovic is taking a cautious approach into this weekend’s Formula Regional European Championship round at Circuit Paul Ricard, despite the Swede arriving at the French venue hot off the biggest win of his career only a few days ago as he swept to victory in Monte Carlo.
Beganovic has been the dominant factor in the early stages of the 2022 Formula Regional campaign, taking three wins and three second places to assert himself firmly atop the standings.
As the large field heads to France’s Circuit Paul Ricard, however, Beganovic and Prema Powerteam are entering less assured territory. The track marked a difficult encounter for the Italian outfit last season, and again in pre-season testing, leaving the championship leader vigilant going into the event.
“We arrive in Paul Ricard with the best momentum in the field, and with a fantastic win in Monaco that we are obviously keen to build on,” says Dino Beganovic. “Having said that, we know that this track hasn’t been the best to us. We have struggled for pace there in the past and, for that reason, expectations are not quite as high as in the previous races.
“It will be about keeping it together, do the best we can, and picking up any opportunities that do come our way. It will be exciting to see how we do here – we will do our best!”
Following the special arrangements of Monaco, Formula Regional returns to its traditional weekend schedule at Paul Ricard. Friday will feature two practice outings, with a pair of qualifying sessions and races then taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
