Dino has been reinstated into the results of the controversial second race at Circuit Paul Ricard this summer following a final verdict from motorsport’s governing body the FIA.
Dino originally finished second in Race 2 of the French meeting back in June, but was subsequently disqualified for an alleged technical irregularity.
Dino and Prema Racing immediately appealed the decision, with the matter dragging on in the juridical system since.
A conclusive decision has now finally been reached, however, with the FIA’s International Court of Appeal declaring this week that a subsequent counterappeal from the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI) has been deemed inadmissible, thus ruling in favour of Dino and Prema Racing.
The verdict means Dino regains his second-place finish, taking his tally of podiums from this year’s Formula Regional European Championship campaign up to 13.
It also brings Dino’s overall points score in 2022 up from 282 to a straight 300.
The decision prompts no changes to the order of the final championship standings, although it does mean that Dino – had the ruling been known at the time – would have clinched the title at the penultimate round of the season in Barcelona rather than at the Mugello finale.
Revised final standings – 2022 Formula Regional European Championship:
1: D. Beganovic (SWE), 300 p.
2: G. Minì (ITA), 242 p.
3: P. Aron (EST), 238 p.
4: H. David (FRA), 222 p.
5: K. Haverkort (NED), 184 p.
