Dino Beganovic will take on the demanding streets of Monte Carlo this weekend in round three of the Formula Regional European Championship, which holds a prestigious slot on the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix support programme.
The glittering event will mark Beganovic’s first-ever experience of a street track, with the 17-year-old Ferrari Driver Academy member well aware that he is facing a steep challenge on the barrier-lined 3.3 km circuit in the heart of the Principality.
“This will be a very, very special weekend,” says Dino Beganovic. “It’s the first street race of my career, and I expect it to be a massive experience. We only have one practice session, so we need to absolutely maximise that ahead of qualifying. I’m so excited for this weekend, which I think will be spectacular, and I understand that it will be a real challenge – but I’m here to give it everything I’ve got.”
Stunningly located on the jet set shores of the Mediterranean, Monaco is the only street circuit scheduled on this year’s calendar, making it a clearly unique event for Beganovic and his rivals.
The Formula Regional European Championship field will be out on track predominantly in the early mornings this weekend, with practice taking place on Thursday in accordance with the traditional Monaco Grand Prix schedule. Qualifying is staged on Friday and will see the large, 30+ grid split in two groups in an effort to ease traffic around the short, narrow street course.
As always, two races are to be run on Saturday and Sunday respectively, with Race 2 having a particularly eminent position as the last support series session before the Monaco Grand Prix.
