– Formula Regional European Championship title to be settled in Italy
– Swede leads the standings as curtain sets on ultra-competitive season
Dino Beganovic heads to Italy’s Mugello circuit this weekend with one very clear objective in mind: wrapping up the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship title.
The Swede has led the fiercely competitive single-seater series from the very first race in Monza back in April, and is gathering strength to stave off one last challenge from his remaining title rivals as the ten-round campaign draws to a dramatic close.
In heading to Mugello – beautifully set in the rolling hills of Tuscany – Beganovic returns to the scene of his very first Formula Regional podium back in 2021. In many ways a “home” event for the 18-year-old, who is racing for Italian powerhouse Prema Powerteam with support from the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA), Beganovic is raring to go for one last time in 2022.
“This is what it all comes down to, and I couldn’t be more ready,” says Dino Beganovic. “I really do feel confident and Mugello was one of our best tracks last year. I’m happy that we’re ending the season there, in front of all our fans and the Prema and FDA families. For me, there is only one thing on my mind at this stage and that is wrapping up the title. It should be a fun weekend and I can’t wait to hit the track!”
Beganovic leads the standings by 38 points over Italy’s Gabriele Minì going into this weekend’s finale, with a maximum 50 points up for grabs across two races. Another two drivers also remain in mathematical title contention.
Pre-event testing will take place on Thursday, with official practice following suit on Friday. The first race of the weekend will play out on Saturday, with the meeting (and the season) then coming to a close with Race 2 on Sunday.
