– Swede looking to build on bittersweet Monaco success
– Field returns to normalcy in Spain
Just days after scoring the best result so far in his rookie FIA Formula 3 season, Dino Beganovic returns to action this weekend as the championship slots into Spain and the well-known Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Beganovic took a bittersweet podium last Sunday on the streets of Monte Carlo, the Ferrari Driver Academy member finishing second in the prestigious precursor race to F1’s famed Monaco Grand Prix.
Having already graced two steps of the F3 rostrum – with P2 in Monaco and P3 at the opening round in Bahrain – Beganovic is now chasing his maiden victory as the field settles into the traditional-styled circuits that make up the series’ European summer leg.
”We arrive in Barcelona straight off a strong weekend in Monaco, so I’m feeling confident,” says Dino Beganovic. “This is a bit of a reset for everyone, with a return to normalcy in a sense after the events in Imola (which was called off due to flooding) and the unique street track in Monaco.
“From now on it’s a stretch of traditional circuits, and Barcelona itself is particularly well-known to everyone as we tested there in April. We had a good two days there, trying out different set-ups, and I think we have every opportunity of challenging up front once again this weekend.”
FIA F3 running will begin at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Friday with an opening 45-minute practice session, followed later in the day by qualifying.
The sprint race takes place on Saturday, and the weekend-concluding feature race on Sunday morning.
Dino Beganovic currently sits fourth in the FIA Formula 3 standings, just a single point off third place.
