Dino Beganovic is back in FIA Formula 3 action again this weekend for the second round in an intense triple-header of races, taking on Austria’s picturesque Spielberg circuit looking for a swift return to frontrunning form.
After picking up a pair of eighth place finishes last weekend in Barcelona, Beganovic – who won the feature race in Melbourne earlier in the year – currently holds fifth in the F3 standings at the halfway mark of the season.
With Austria now phasing in the second half of the campaign, Beganovic has reason for fresh optimism. The Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy junior has a best finish of second at Spielberg, scored in his title-winning 2022 Formula Regional season, and was a frontrunner throughout last year’s F3 event at the venue as well, qualifying on the front row and briefly leading the feature race in which he also set the fastest lap.
“Excited to be back on track,” says Dino Beganovic. “We had a difficult weekend in Barcelona, so having a new race immediately after feels good. We have spent the last couple of days analysing what went wrong in Spain and we think we have a good idea of where to improve.
“I really enjoy the Spielberg circuit. We had very strong pace there last year, qualifying second and leading the feature race. Even though we ultimately slipped back to fifth, it’s a track that’s always suited me and the team well. I really look forward to this weekend and hopefully kicking off the second half of the season on the right foot.”
The 30-car Formula 3 field takes to the track in Spielberg, located in the striking Styrian Alps, on Friday for practice and qualifying. As always, the sprint race is slated for Saturday and the concluding feature race for Sunday.
