- Swede leaves junior academy to join legendary team’s F1 operation
- ”A significant moment in my career”
Dino Beganovic will enter a new phase of his career as the Swede is confirmed today to take up the role of Development and Reserve Driver for the Scuderia Ferrari HP Formula 1 team.
Beganovic has been a long-time member of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, representing the team’s young driver programme since the start of his single-seater journey in 2020.
Starting next year, however, the Swedish 22-year-old will graduate from the academy into a key capacity within the squad’s Formula 1 outfit.
Having already conducted several test outings for the team, including four FP1 appearances, the role as Development and Reserve Driver will see Beganovic become further nestled into the F1 programme. This includes being ready to fill in for either of the team’s regular race drivers should the need arise on Grand Prix weekends.
”I am pleased to join Scuderia Ferrari HP as Development and Reserve Driver,” says Dino Beganovic. ”This is a significant moment in my career. I am leaving the junior academy to be entrusted a role within the world’s most iconic Formula 1 team. I will be doing my best to support the team and ensure I’m ready for racing should the need come up. Thank you to the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy for the years we’ve spent together, and to the F1 team for placing its trust in me.”
Beganovic will join Ferrari on site for several of the remaining F1 Grands Prix of the year, while also focussing on the final two rounds of the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
