- Swede backs up Madrid victory with another gold-clad performance in Formula 2
- Ferrari junior takes P1/P3 double within hours on memorable weekend
Dino Beganovic repeated his 2025 performances around the streets of Baku to win the Azerbaijan sprint race for a second consecutive year and add a further feature race podium on a memorable weekend of Formula 2 action.
Returning to racing two weeks after clinching his first win of the season in the Madrid feature race, Beganovic made it back-to-back victories by storming through from third on the grid to claim the Baku sprint in style.
With F2 applying a unique triple-header format this weekend, the 22-car field then returned to the track just a few hours later on Friday for the first of two feature races – with Beganovic once again gracing the podium with a P3 finish.
The pair of rostrum visits came under difficult circumstances, too, with the Swede feeling unwell throughout the day and having to battle through from P8 on the feature race grid – making the success all the more rewarding.
“Two podiums in one day; that’s not something that happens too often,” says Dino Beganovic. “Very proud of the team and the way we’ve conducted these last few races. Friday was actually terrible for me as I was not feeling well at all. I woke up in the morning and struggled to see how I could even finish the races. Going from that to winning the sprint race and taking another podium a few hours later, it’s a day that will stick with me for a very long time.”

In Saturday’s concluding, additional feature race, Beganovic started 12th having tagged the wall in qualifying and logging just a single flying lap. From his challenging slot in the midfield, the DAMS Lucas Oil driver made headway to climb up the order, attacking for a top five finish on the final lap and eventually finishing seventh.
“We’ve had three competitive races here in Baku,” Dino Beganovic concludes. “The starts have been good, as have the safety car restarts, where I’ve been able to attack and gain a position most of the time. We had to fight back a bit from qualifying, but the race craft has definitely been there and it’s very encouraging to see. I’m very happy with how we’ve managed to turn things around recently.”
With a results streak of 1-1-3-7 in the last four races, Beganovic has now improved up to fifth in the Formula 2 standings.
The championship is scheduled to resume in Qatar for the penultimate round of the season on November 27-29.
