- DAMS Lucas Oil driver misses out on points in Italy
- New opportunity awaits in just a few days at all-new street track
Dino Beganovic is moving on from a challenging weekend of racing as the FIA Formula 2 Championship resumed at Monza following the summer break.
Struggling for pace throughout the meeting in Italy, Beganovic found himself outside of the points in both races of the weekend, taking a P12 finish in Saturday’s Sprint Race and a 14th place in Sunday’s Feature Race.
“A difficult weekend here at Monza,” says Dino Beganovic. “It’s a real shame as I was hoping to build on our momentum that was slowly starting to gain pace before the break. Here at this track, however, we just couldn’t extract the lap time. The car felt good, the balance was more or less on point, but we just didn’t have the pace.”
Thankfully for Beganovic, the next opportunity is waiting around the corner, with racing set to resume in just a few days’ time at the all-new Madring street track in Madrid, Spain.
“Madrid is going to be a completely different track to Monza, literally a brand new opportunity at a circuit that no one in F2 has ever driven at before,” Dino Beganovic concludes. “I already look forward to that. I think it’s a great chance for us, just like Miami earlier in the year where we ended up fighting for the win.”
Despite missing out on points this weekend at The Temple of Speed, Beganovic – who has four podiums to his name earlier in the year – retains seventh place in the overall F2 championship standings.
